Live photos of Motorola's recycled W233 Renew cell phone

Motorola has partnered up with U.S. carrier T-Mobile to offer environmentally conscious users a new choice when it comes to cell phones, the Motorola W233 Renew. The W233 Renew candy-bar styled handset is manufactured using recycled plastic bottles, and needs 20% less energy to manufacture than average cell phones.

The Motorola W233 Renew features dual-band GSM (850/1900MHz) network support and sports a microSD card slot for expanded storage. The Renew is rated as being good for up to 9 hours of talk time on a single charge and even features Motorola's CrystalTalk noise reduction technology for clear call audio.

In spite of the fact that it is made up of old soda and milk bottles, the Renew feels nice in the hand. It isn't a high-end handset by any stretch, but it still manages to be attractive and different looking at the same time. Motorola pointed out to us that they have worked to make sure that the Renew has a very minimal impact on the world, taking into account everything from the materials used in its body and box to the transport vehicles used to distribute the device.
