Samsung Blue Earth

The new solar-powered Samsung ‘Blue Earth’ cell phone is made from PCM recycled plastic from drink bottles. It can help keep track of your CO2 offsets and let you know how many trees you’ve saved with your offsetting ways. It has a number of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features that help to make it a device that walks the talk.

Blue Earth will be making its debut at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona on the 16th of February and is set to launch in the last half of 2009.
The new device -- designed to emulate a flat, rounded pebble -- features a solar panel located on the back of the phone. Absent the real world specs, Samsung says that the panel generates "enough electronic power to call anytime anywhere." The Blue Earth phone also comes with a 5 star energy efficient charger which operates on less than 0.03W of electricity while in standby.
